One long persistingly annoying adoption of practice seems to be the behaviour of linking a contact-us button to an email address. While there is nothing wrong with the inherent idea, time and time again it leads to an undesired outcome. The best someone can word is this tweet below by Mike Coutermarsh…
Read MoreThe happy secret to better work
Joy doesn't start at the end of good work but good work starts with joy.
I jotted that quote after being inspired by a few things I've seen or read recently but mostly reworded from this brilliant TED talk by Shawn Achor. Below is an excerpt…
Read MoreHow the Finder sidebar is perhaps slowing things down
I remember the day I was faced with coming in terms with the horrid OS X Lion update that came in the form of some greyed out monotone finder icons. In the following days, I could immediately sense I was spending longer amounts of time trying to accomplish basic operations of navigating within the sidebar. After denial…
Read MoreRoutemaster by Heatherwick →
One of my favourite examples of 'a better experience through design', is what I enjoy almost on a daily basis and hope is arriving when I'm stood at the bus stop waiting to go somewhere; the new generation Routemaster.
I love how significant a step up it feels from the other buses and how satisfying it feels to be on a public transport service that manages to delight. I recently stumbled upon The Vessel and was glad to know the architects behind it – Heatherwick – were also who worked on giving us the much-loved Routemaster.

Frank Fonts' FR Kraken Slab is a beautiful expression that captures the spirit of the sea and folklore with its crafty tentacles and folded edges.

Inter is a beautiful dynamic type designed for screen by this talented gentleman. It's kinda like San Francisco without all the hype.
Feb – 2019
My monthly posts seem to be turning into a monthly movie log or at least February in that respect is very similar to January; lots of time at home, cooling off period from at my last role as a product designer at SurePeople and lining up lots and lots of interviews for what's ahead.
In February last year, we moved into the house we live in now in Streatham, I watched Godfather for the first time (and loved it), drank and enjoyed the cult hop juice from Omnipollo called yellow belly and did a bit of travel including Bath, Cheltenham, Bologna and Amsterdam.
So the movie log then:
- Closed Circuit 😎
- An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn
- Labor Day😎
- Maigret's Dead Man
- Killed by My Debt😎
- Rain Man
- Belle de Jour😎
- The Glass Castle
- The Girl on the Train
- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas😎
- The Fury of a Patient Man
- In the Fade😎
- Milada
- Rillington Place😎
- The Durrells in Corfu
- B.A. Pass
- Revolution in Ruins: The Hugo Chavez Story😎
- Terms and Conditions May Apply
This month again I've stayed semi-paleo and continued with lots of gym visits. We also had my mate Pankaj and fam visiting us from Amsterdam on their boys second birthday, such fun.
JAN – 2019
January has been a month of recuperation after excessive Christmas holiday binge eating and drinking. What has come out of it is wanting to use that spirit of change into other more beneficial things. I wanted to get back into shape, both physically and mentally and so went back to my paleo-isque living. No beer was had and no wheat was had.
Read MoreTake a Gander →
The work of New York based agency Gander looks very 'current', you know: they got the brutalist typography, flash photography, gipsy/magic design element, scrolling text, photography on patterns and animated gifs; they have it all and its great to see how they have applied it to most of their projects.
Mobile Photos [Lot One]
I have found no alternate space or tool for being able to seamless publish things of my interest but I have decided to work within the constraints of having chosen one and even if then abruptly, to publish them. Furthering that thought, I like to keep things organised, so I will sporadically produce such photo galleries into lots rather than keeping them in themed collections (which was to be my initial approach)
Glasgow Necropolis
This Christmas break, like the last three ones, we are in Scotland. This year in the comfort of being a new parent and therefore permitted to not get up to much plus not having much to get back to London for, we decided to stay little beyond the year-end.

A great little collection of, well, inspiring stuff found online by this gentleman who himself has done many inspiring things online including The Useless Web that has served me as a brilliant dose of internet humour.
Paul Robert Lloyd's Bookmarks →
I like how Paul manages external links on his website. Essentially something I'm striving to achieve here on my website, but of course, his is a more elegant solution. A great selection of links, pointing to the source, an excerpt from the link and a short opinion on why it was bookmarked or what he found interesting in it.
J+A Café →
I like the look and feel of J+A that comes through from the logo and the website. Something quite warm and comforting. I haven't even been to the cafe yet, but it definitely makes me want to go. Even their tweets look delicious. A crystal case of a design doing the effective duty.
Funkis Font →
Funkis is a customisable geometric san serif typeface originally designed in 2015 by Göran Söderström and Fredrik Gruber and published by Letters from Sweden. It has a great little website accompanying the typeface and some really slick simple in-use design examples.
Post One
After months of trying to find an alternative space after my Tumblr blog went missing, I've decided to go with Squarespace. I've heard good thing, I did the trial and I think I can make it work. My immediate thoughts are only that I miss the simplicity of posting on Tumblr.
